Created in honor of Lynn “Arnold” Geurkink, The Other Arnold continues the legacy of compassion, generosity, and community service that defined Lynn’s life. Growing up, Lynn experienced food insecurity firsthand, and local food shelves helped support his family during difficult times. Those experiences stayed with him throughout his life and shaped his belief that no one should have to wonder where their next meal will come from.

As a longtime mail carrier, Lynn became deeply involved in local food drives each year, helping collect, organize, and sort donations alongside fellow mail carriers and community volunteers. What started as a food drive became something much bigger because of Lynn’s enthusiasm and heart for helping others. He helped turn the day into a community event filled with teamwork, generosity, and even grill-outs to bring people together while supporting local food shelves.

After Lynn’s passing in 2024, family and friends wanted to continue the mission he cared so deeply about. In his honor, they organized a small charity golf outing to raise funds for local food shelves and continue giving back to the community he loved so much. The overwhelming support from the community, sponsors, volunteers, and participants showed just how many people connected with Lynn’s story and shared his passion for helping others.

From that event, the decision was made to officially establish The Other Arnold as a nonprofit organization in 2025 so his legacy of generosity and community support could continue for years to come. Today, The Other Arnold hosts fundraising events, community initiatives, and charitable efforts focused on supporting local food shelves and helping neighbors facing food insecurity.
